1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing our website or booking any service with Pura Vida Surf School ("we," "our," or "us"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Services

Pura Vida Surf School provides surf lessons, surf camps, and surf packages in Tamarindo, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. All services are subject to availability and weather/ocean conditions. We reserve the right to modify, reschedule, or cancel sessions for safety reasons.

3. Bookings & Payment

  • Bookings are confirmed upon receipt of payment.
  • Prices are listed in US Dollars (USD) and are subject to change without notice.
  • Payments are processed securely via Stripe. We do not store payment card details.
  • Group bookings of 5 or more participants may require a deposit.

4. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

  • More than 48 hours notice: Full refund or free reschedule.
  • 24–48 hours notice: 50% refund or free reschedule (one time).
  • Less than 24 hours notice: No refund. Rescheduling subject to availability and a rebooking fee.
  • No-show: Full charge applies, no refund.
  • Weather/ocean cancellations: If we cancel due to unsafe conditions, you will receive a full refund or free reschedule.

5. Health & Safety Requirements

  • Participants must be able to swim at least 50 meters unassisted.
  • Participants must disclose any medical conditions, disabilities, or injuries prior to the lesson.
  • Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the water.
  • We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • All participants must follow the instructions of our certified instructors at all times.

6. Liability Waiver

Surfing is an inherently risky water sport. By booking with Pura Vida Surf School, you acknowledge and accept the following:

  • You participate in surf lessons and related activities at your own risk.
  • Pura Vida Surf School, its instructors, and staff are not liable for any personal injury, illness, loss, or damage to property that may occur during our activities, except where caused by our gross negligence.
  • We carry professional liability insurance for all certified instruction activities.
  • All participants (or their legal guardians, if minors) will be required to sign a liability waiver before their first session.

7. Photography & Media

We may take photos or videos during lessons for marketing purposes. By booking with us, you consent to the use of such media on our website and social media channels, unless you notify us in writing before your session that you do not wish to be photographed.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, and design — is the property of Pura Vida Surf School and protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use our content without prior written permission.

9. Website Use

You agree not to:

  • Use our website for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of our systems
  • Transmit harmful, spam, or malicious content through our website

10. Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms of Use at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
