Why Do Surf Lesson Prices Vary?

Class size. The fewer students per instructor, the higher the price — and the more waves you'll catch. A private lesson costs more than a group lesson because 100% of the coaching is yours.

Instructor experience. Certified, experienced instructors who genuinely teach (rather than just push you into waves) are worth the difference. At Pura Vida Surf School every instructor is ISA-certified and local.

What's bundled in. Beware of $35 "lessons" that don't include a board, or that quietly add rental fees. Our lesson prices include the board, leash, rash guard and instructor, with no rental fees on top. The only addition is the 13% IVA, shown before you pay.

Length of the session. Our lessons run a full 90 minutes — long enough to learn properly without exhausting you on day one.
